Title: Witch-king of the Nazgul
Artist: Detrocboi
I remember when I first contacted Stefano (Detrocboi) about this commission. He admitted he was not that familiar with the character or The Lord of the Rings but he was interested. I believe he did a bit of research and emailed me back to say that he was thinking of a very different direction with his illustration, one that would involve a fashionable suit and tie, modern sneakers, something about a house, and other ways of showing a more contemporary take on the idea of addiction. I was a bit shocked but after some thinking I decided that this kind of shock was exactly why I delighted in asking so many artists for their own unique take on the Witch-king of Angmar. The piece finally arrived yesterday, and it was well worth the wait. Beautiful and strange this is. Beautiful and strange indeed.
(This will be cross posted on the blog’s dedicated World’s Largest Personal Collection of Nazgul Art page as well as my Nazgul art tumblr All Nazgul All The Time.)

There’s my Nazgul, he’s in good company now in Matt Kish’s amazing collection of Nazgul art.

A drawing I’ve made for May issue of the poster zine Composter. I’m playing with lots of naturalistic themes lately and this also serves as a preview of things to come.

Here’s another few books up for sale, a batch of science fiction and fantasy doujinshis from the 90’s. Buub is by Okama, the Thinking Battalion ones by Youichirou Tanuma, Kyoma Aki and Yoshitsune Izuna, the last one is a No-Zui Magic one. There’s also a copy of Teradagabon by Katsuya Terada, a small sketchbook that was sold with a comic magazine in 2010 and is pretty hard to find nowadays. Then Shunya Yamashita’s first two artbooks and Range Murata’s Re:Futurhythm. I’ll have another couple of batches of stuff to sell soon; the previous ones I posted are all sold except Factlily.

As usual hit me at marsgamelan[at]gmail.com if you’re interested.

A quicker one for another Sky Canyon main villain. Iscoginburba is the master of magic and mystical arts, which one is his real face?

I wanted to make a full figure drawing of this guy for quite a long time. Dodoli is the first of my Sky Canyon characters I created, the usual strong henchman in a bunch of villains. Of course this pays a huge homage to Nagai’s Duke Gorgon. Remember I’m taking commissions for a while!

Hey, I’m selling a few books off my collection.

First ones up for sale are Masamune Shirow’s Battle Comics, some of his rarest and earliest publications. A double copy I have of Factlily by Keisuke Goto and Hiroyuki Kato and the two Angel Sanctuary artbooks. Thought I may find someone interested on here before putting these on eBay.
